Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal can be a sticky situation, whether it’s on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, gum eventually transforms into a smudge on concrete. But before then, visitors and clientele coming into a store or office will step on the chewing gum and get it in all over your carpets, rugs and entryway mats. Then it is embedded deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to carry it somewhere else in your building.
We are happy to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Garden Grove CA. Find information about our process below:
The best methods of removing chewing gum from concrete usually depends on how long the gum has been stuck there and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left recently and it has not penetrated the surface, we are sometimes able to remove it by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping the gum off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the gum to freeze into a workable consistency compared to a warm and sticky mess. Once the chewing gum is frozen, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper right under the gum. Then we slide the scraper slowly beneath the gum and the entire piece should peel right off of the concrete.
The above process is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove chewing gum that has turned black, or is already smashed down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water power washer with the heat turned up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal, we don’t use high pressure because that might damage the surface of the concrete!
Our crew never uses more pressure than needed to safely clean concrete. These types of surfaces can be destroyed a lot easier than people think, especially if they’re only a few years old. Concrete can require up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our chewing gum removal professional.
To remove chewing gum from concrete and other commercial surfaces we use custom designed hot water pressure washing tools and special soaps that enable us to effectively clean the surface without resulting in any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure, we safely remove gum and dirt while protecting the surface. Our service will also eliminate bacteria and viruses that can be found in gum on concrete.
